5-Day Eswatini / Swaziland Motorcycle Tour & Safari — premium, slow-paced tar-road journeys designed exclusively for the discerning, mature rider.
Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is a compact, culturally rich African destination and the perfect road trip from South Africa. Think: excellent winding roads, big-game safaris, ancient mountains, and vibrant traditions!
Distinguished Motorcycle Tours offer premium, slow-paced journeys designed exclusively for the discerning, mature rider. Every itinerary showcases breathtaking natural wonders paired with characterful accommodation. Whether you ride a classic cruiser, a modern tourer, or an adventure bike, all reliable motorcycles and classic motorcycles are welcome. We bypass unpaved roads wherever possible, prioritizing the joy of the journey over speed.
Depart from Gauteng and ride via Carolina to the Oshoek border post. After entering Eswatini, stop at Ngwenya Glass for lunch. Ride via the capital, Mbabane, into Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary—Eswatini’s pioneer conservation area proclaimed in 1961—where we have special authorisation to ride our motorcycles inside the sanctuary to our overnight accommodation.
Tonight we share a cold one around the legendary Mlilwane campfire that has been burning non-stop for over 50 years!
Exit the sanctuary onto the newly paved access road joining the MR3 highway. Turn south near Manzini through the rolling hills of Nkwene to Nhlangano for fuel and lunch. Ride the highly scenic mountain pass cutting through Hlatikulu before descending into the Lowveld plains adjacent to the Lebombo mountains to overnight at KaMsholo Nature Reserve.
After two fun days in the saddle, we take it easy and depart KaMsholo at 10h00 for a scenic 90 km ride through the Lowveld to Hlane Royal National Park—a 22,000-hectare big-game reserve home to lion, elephant, rhino, and ancient hardwood trees. End the afternoon with an optional 2.5-hour Sunset Game Drive in an open safari vehicle.
Enjoy an early morning bush activity before riding through northern Eswatini past the sugar cane estates to the Sugar Cane Museum. Cross the Mananga Border Post back into South Africa for our highlight lunch stop at the famous Carlos for the best Portuguese prawns and chicken in the Lowveld! Ride a short distance to Boulders Safari Lodge to relax in the rock pool overlooking the untamed Lowveld sunset.
Cruise back along the N4 to Gauteng, bidding farewell in “Bronkies” (Bronkhorstspruit) with memories of an unforgettable 1,200 km cross-border ride.
